178::366

back to work after what seems like a very extended weekend ...... suddenly the island is back to its old quiet self with all the festival goers gone

177::366

the end of the festival and thousands of abandoned cheap tents are being cleared from the site

178::366

summer harvest ... despite the lack of sunshine...

177::366

gladys.  need i say more?
she is completely adorable.

176::366

the carroll wedding:
sunshine, flowers, and lots of dancing.

175::366

the morrison wedding:
fun, fun, fun.  especially for the grown-ups.

174::366

the finished wedding gift!

Monday 25 June 2012

176::366

monday: on the return journey from Bristol we stopped at Devizes, a lovely old market town with some pleasing shops tucked away in the side alleys

175::366

sunday: could not have been a more perfect day ...... the photo i think speaks for itself ......

174::366

saturday : arrived in Bristol for the wedding weekend ...... everything is crossed for fine weather tomorrow .......

Friday 22 June 2012

173::366

festival time and newport is buzzing with people at every turn ...... i just love the atmosphere this time of year, it's one big injection of happy people (despite the muddy camp site!)

173::366

my usual route to the station from work is blocked off,
so i am forced to walk a different way,
which makes me open my eyes again to the amazing sights which i become blinkered to ...

midsummer's day.  who would have guessed from that sky!
(that little glimpse of blue was the best we saw all day.)
i need to carve out some little midsummer ritual;
the longest day is something really special.

172::366

crafting ... all will be revealed soon ...

spent a lovely evening with my choir,
singing, drinking, singing some more.

Wednesday 20 June 2012

172::366

i have always liked the door of this georgian house in Sea Street, especially of course because of the ancient notice that goes with it

Tuesday 19 June 2012

171::366

worked at home all day only to venture out at 5 to enjoy the last of the sunshine and take today's photo down at the Quay

171::366

been crafting like mad this evening,
making gifts for this weekend's double whammy:
d & s's wedding on saturday,
and j & l's wedding on sunday.

tonight, there was an amazing sky.

170::366

monday night is shopping night. groan.

Monday 18 June 2012

170::366

what a nice end to the day, a deserted castle, blue skies, and just the sounds of bird song ......

Sunday 17 June 2012

169::366

we had a new arrival in our household last week:
herman, the sourdough starter.
this was my first attempt at making sourdough ...

168::366

the vineyard at dorking, under a dramatic sky.

169::366

fathers day was very pleasant thank you children ...... as D & A were looking to buy a new car we dropped by to see what was on offer at Arreton and came across just the thing ......

Saturday 16 June 2012

168::366

a very lazy day today, not doing a lot, but time at least to unwind after a busy week

Friday 15 June 2012

167::366

my worst nightmare in trafalgar square.
today was one of those days where right from the very beginning,
things start to run away from you and you spend the rest of the day trying to catch up.
i went for a walk on my own this evening;
it was completely peaceful and calm,
and hardly a soul around.
the perfect antidote ...

166::366

no, not a scene from a primary school,
but from 'learning at work' week.
we spent a fun lunch hour getting covered in poster paint.

167::366

now the white wild roses are coming out in their hundreds just as the others are fading ......

166::366

thursday evening ..... after much soul searching i turned on the central heating trying to forget it was mid-June ....... hurry up summer

Wednesday 13 June 2012

165::366

home.
it was still light when i walked back at 9.45pm (after tapas and team-building).
what an amazing feeling.

164::366

does anyone know where i can buy a bag of 's's?

165::365

after yet another dull start suddenly, this afternoon, summer seemed to have arrived

Tuesday 12 June 2012

164::366

calamity Tuesday and the boiler system has packed up at home....... i must live out of a kettle until the heating engineer comes tomorrow :0(

163::366

monday ....... if it had rained any more i would have built a noah's ark on top of the catle hill .....

Monday 11 June 2012

163::366

the latest pair of baby stovler ...
i can churn a couple of these out in two evenings now.
the latest isle of wight baby arrived last week.

162::366

my favourite local walk, near newark priory.
lunch at the pub by the river in the rain.

161::366

spent the day striding across petworth park,
and then ogling the turners inside the house.
everything was so green...

Sunday 10 June 2012

162::366

went to a charity do at Barton Manor today - a little rain but not enough to spoil a walk around the gardens and watch the carp go wild for the fish food that the children were throwing into the lake

161::366

saturday ...... is it the head of a modernist bird sculptue or a crane?

161::366

Saturday 9 June 2012

160::366

friday ..... long awaited after a busy week .... an odd day of gales mixed with sunshine

Friday 8 June 2012

160::366

ahhhh, that friday feeling.
you just can't beat it.
this weekend:
craftiness,
historic houses,
replanting seedlings,
wine.

159::366

today was a long, slow day.
even a bit of retail therapy at lunch time didn't really ease the boredom.
some days, you just do not want to be at work.

this evening,
we ate fajitas and tried to pretend it was summer.

Thursday 7 June 2012

159::366

i just managed to grab a bit of time after work when the rain had stopped and the sun came out to take a quick snap on newport quay - here's a nice old tub of a boat

Wednesday 6 June 2012

158::366

unfortunately this is horribly over-exposed,
but these rhododendron flowers reminded me
of stranded starfish on the pavement.

157::366

this pretty much summed up yesterday.
rain, rain, rain.
still, we watched the diamond jubilee celebrations
and then went on a nice walk to feed the ducks in the park.
(the ducks were delighted.)

157::366

a long day with having to deal with a lot of VIPs at the end of it ....... good to finally get home and see the progress of my well watered garden .....
