Sunday was a nice enough day to venture down Shanklin Chine and on to the beach where we had a picnic lunch. I love the Chine for its greenness ....

Saturday, and the whole island prepares for the arrival of the Olympic torch ...... here it comes down Newport High Street, and I have the luxury of a view from the first floor window

Freshwater Bay - rather more dramatic in winter when the breakers crash over the rocks

a BEEmergency at work, today.
our bees were disturbed by some local drilling,
and swarmed onto a nearby building.
i would have flown off in a huff if they were making that kind of noise outside my front door, to be honest.
anxiously awaiting a visit by the beekeeper to coax them back to their hive.

the boys are watching the godfather film tonight.
but it's way too long for me; i'm going to hit the sack and dream of contented bees.

185::366

celebration time!
two years ago, we tied the knot.
we had cream teas on the lawn,
we reeled and jigged, we had a blast.
man, that was a good day.

a study in yellow:
a subconscious wish for some sunshine, i think.
monday again, and i wish i had a couple of days at home
just to sort the place out.
it makes me feel uncomfortable when it's a mess.

on the green of Chichester Cathedral are lots of amazing sculptures by Philip Jackson

182::366

explored east grinstead which has some rather fine medieval buildings

183::366

i went on my favourite walk today:
up the lane, through the woods and up a steep hill under a tunnel of trees
beyond which you can't see anything until you're practically on top,
at which point the trees open out onto an amazing vista.
it knocks me dead, every time.
but even so, the anticipation is the best part.
i lay down in the field in the sunshine and listened.
it was bliss.

182::366

we walked up culver down to watch the round-the-island race
(which this year was anti-clockwise).
it sure was gusty up there,
but the clouds skudding across the sky so quickly made amazing shadows on the sea.

181::366

i actually went to bed before remembering that i hadn't taken a photograph.
had to get up again and snap something nearby ...
i really must try harder!
