lanterns in chinatown

my new year's resolution this year
was to say 'yes' more often.
using this simple mantra
today i bagged myself a stick of liquorice
had several very nice conversations
and found myself agreeing to perform a russian folk song in public
which, as anyone who knows me will attest,
is a Big Deal.

A fab sunny day at the Castle ...... knock knock ....

i went out happy-snapping with the tourists at lunch time:
yinka shonibare's ship in a bottle;
nelson's column;
a token red bus;
and a tiny glimpse of the london eye.
somehow the scale looks wrong
which makes it all look slightly surreal.

apparently
the building i work in
used to be the home of the chap
who looked after the fountains in trafalgar square.
what a nice job.

a corner of the patio made from recycled bits ..... time soon to think about gardening for the New Year

we took the christmas tree down this evening
and the room feels fresh and empty.

couldn't resist leaving a few white lights up, though.
i'd have them in every room, if I could.

2 january: a walk by the swollen river
the sun warm on our backs
and so much colour around, even now.
last day of the holidays.
